Massimo Panzeri

Having more than 25 years of experience in the space sector, he has been engaged in the security activity of important projects at national and European level, like those for secure Italian telecommunication satellite (SICRAL), Earth observation constellation (COSMO), navigation system (Galileo e Galileo 2nd Generation), previously working in aerospace industry and later on in ESA.

Currently he is following the first ESA classified project for the Quantum Key Distribution (SAGA). In this context he is supporting the security activities and the technological aspects related to security. Moreover, he supports the security aspects for the development of EUQCI led by the European Commission in relation to the activities delegated to ESA.

His activity also encompasses the supervision of the Cyber Security projects under development at the European Space Agency. In this context, he is the initiator of the CyberCUBE mission, as flying testbed for cyber security, and the Quantum Security Verification Platform, for the maturation of Quantum technology, both as part of the ESA Cyber Security Resilience Programme.  

He is the author of papers on different topics, in particular, on the security verification strategy of complex space system.

The culture of security and its diffusion in the space sector is one of the subjects dearest to him.
