In collaboration with the Italian Space Agency, the international Space&Underwater Conference returns to Rome, the leading Italian forum for strategic, technological, industrial and regulatory analysis on two emerging domains of global geopolitics: outer space and the deep seabed.
Promoted and organized by the daily newspaper Cybersecurity Italia, the third edition will take place on December 1st 2026 at the ASI headquarters, in the Luigi Broglio Auditorium.
This year as well, the event will host representatives from Italian and European institutions, the Armed Forces, regulatory authorities, strategic industries and research centres, alongside international experts.
Participation will be by personal invitation, and the event will also be streamed live. The Conference will be structured into a plenary session and thematic working groups.
The expansion of the New Space Economy is accelerating rapidly, driven by satellites, AI, quantum communications and interplanetary missions. But the underwater domain is equally central: 99% of global data traffic travels through submarine cables, which are increasingly vulnerable to interference and sabotage. In both arenas, security and resilience have become top priorities.
Space&Underwater 2026 will be a high‑level platform for dialogue on the future of security, technology and national sovereignty in an increasingly interconnected and unstable world.
Hybrid conflicts, cyberattacks, sabotage of critical infrastructure, threats from hostile artificial intelligence, and the military use of Earth’s orbit and oceanic backbones: today more than ever, the Space and Underwater domains have become strategic battlegrounds among global powers.
The Conference will bring together civilian and military experts, institutional representatives, strategic industries and international stakeholders, to reflect on the risks and opportunities linked to the control of the new “digital and geopolitical highways.”
